I'll get by with a little help from my friends

Girlfriends, they are the salt of the earth. Especially those who make you feel happy and good merely by being themselves. And who wake you out of your self-imposed slumber into a pepped-up-raring-to-go (-and-exercise) self.
Love you all- Aka, S, Parul, Dee...
And thank you especially, Aka, for the great lunch yesterday :)

They are, aren't they? Call it the upbringing of an all-girls' college (the school was co-ed, and so is now) but somehow, I can't seem to believe the self-proclaimed tomboys who pride on having a guys-only inner circle. One needs someone one can giggle with-that sheepish, hand-on-mouth, shoulder-shaking, naughty-eyed thingie, that unfortunately men are simply NOT capable of!

Not rational male would even want to act like such a moron.

Geetika: your call, dude!

I totally relate to what cactus has to say. It's much in the same thread as no rational female would want to backslap and drink beer with a mate following it up with a belching/farting/both contest.

Hiy...Girija...howz u..i liked the post on blank noise ..different prespective...but i dunn agree with u'r point of view or solution ...
BTW what do u do?..u have so many things written on u'r profile.. animal rights activist, art collector etc..
and i feel u r more sane with balanced views on men.... unlike u'r friend geetika...

geetika: high five! ;)

cactus: hey!! Firstly, u r not allowed to say anything against my friends to me! And secondly, around here we believe in healthy debating...no backstabbing/whining/growling, ok?
That said,I'm everything I've written in my profile...and more.
Thank you, but in what sense do you differ from my point of view in the post? If it's a longish reply, you can email me.

You tell them, " I was too sissy to grab her ass, but you did great, brother. Way to go!"
In this line…U got the right point girjia…given a chance most men will indulge in oppurtunistic behaviour of groping..and this guilt that they are not any different from the grabber..stops them from the idealistic behaviour u are expecting from men..Given a situation ..the basic instincts take over..all logic is thrown out ..I used to think that lack of education may be a reason ..I was wrong..if u go search the net u will find enough stuff that the groper could be anyone.. of any strata of life..any race,,any ethicnity.. .It is not a planned activity but more an oppurtunistic behaviour…Tell me one thing..u have written about blue line buses in delhi..and u kinda know that it’s highly probable that u will get groped if u get into a crowded bus..then why do u travel in it..from the groper point of view he may think that the girl wants to be groped that’s why she is in it..I mean if u play with fire u should not complain about burns..
The only solution is to have punishment which will make men think twice before indulging in it and give women the confidence to act …I think it’s really hard to find a solution soon..Indian women are so weak…it’s really sad...

i can gather from your response that-
a) you have no idea about women.
b) you are among the men who indulge in voyeurism, and are adept in finding the perfect excuses for it.

It is sadder that one gets comments such as yours...that is the real problem.
Finally, sir, buses are not even the CRUX of the problem. They are a tiny example of a woman's everyday life. Sorry, but you really haven't understand the point of the whole blank noise project post.

Way to go, Girija! *hi five!*
And thanks so much:)
Cactus, you miss the point, really. I do welcome the solution bit, though I disagree when you say it won't come up soon.

a) I have no idea about women ---maybe true --sorry for my ignorance
b) It seems some word of mine has hurt you…sorry for that.

Well, what I thought the post was about…. Men should recognize the problem and condemn it instead of being a passive observer… they should hit out…. which I thought was not a practical solution... men accepting the problem and condemning it is one thing and really taking steps to stop is a different matter altogether…

Geetika: yeah only if we have more gals like u (men –haters)… the solution would have come out sooner. well u have a pretty cool template on u’r blog.

Thanks, Cactus, I like my template too. And if you think I am a man-hater, dude, I will quote my friend Girija here-
"you have no idea about women."

1. "...u kinda know that it’s highly probable that u will get groped if u get into a crowded bus..then why do u travel in it..I mean if u play with fire u should not complain about burns.."

"Indian women are so weak…it’s really sad..."

No woman is going to give you brownie points for thinking/speaking thus.

2) You say the solution that i propose is not viable, that severe punishment is the only way. Here, I disagree with you. Men are fully capable of hitting out. I know that my brother will do his damndest to stop a guy from molesting a girl. If men don't, they should be punished for being guilty by default.

Let me ask you- what would you choose to do- watch with pleasure or hit out?

3) "yeah only if we have more gals like u (men –haters)… the solution would have come out sooner."
Let me rephrase that- if only we have more men like my friend Geetika, the solution would have come out sooner.
What say?

Well, I don’t know how I will react in such a situation…anyways lets drop this topic. We may end up having 100 comments and still be debating…and I am afraid I may say something or the other..pissing u off again…
And it’s not easy debating with two sharp brained girls who have ganged up against you…
Now ..Please dun’t start doing u’r high fives..it’s so irritating..

Well girls..i checked out u’r Orkut profiles….
Grija from what I make out ..from the links u have in u’r blog and u’r profile..u are in those arundhati roy..bharkha dutta kind of mould... So u r a writer... well hope u make it big.
And miss microbiologist…wow!!..u r really popular…girls really lurve u..can’t say the same about guys though..u hardly have any guys in u’r friends list….it seems they dun’t feel safe with u around….just kidding yaar..Btw ..Why no pics of u …just curious…wanted to c how a compulsive man hater looks like..:)

Thanks again,Girija. You are too good, really:) Looks like someone is tired, doesn't it?
And what escapes my cranium-contents is that why someone wuss enough to actually not use Orkut for communication as it effectively robs the prickly cover of this thorn called anonymity would object to people not having put up their pictures. Strange, isn't it?
And Cactus, I think being popular is almost a misnomer...I am just glad about having a wonderful, trusty group of friends around me.
And A *hi-five* to Girija, only 'coz it irks you. No actually, A hi-five to her anyway, as it's glory should not depend on peeving some thorns off.
